Serpentine Lido

This fresh water open air lido is the perfect spot for a swim. Come the summer months you’ll have to get there early, but the vibrant atmosphere and idyllic locale will definitely have you coming back time after time. Located right on the Serpentine Lake itself, you’ll be thrilled with this 100 metre, cafe equipped corner of the beautiful water system.

Kensington Gardens

Made of 270 acres, Kensington Gardens was originally part of Hyde Park, but was closed off in the 1720’s so as to make space for Queen Caroline’s own private gardens. Here the dutch terraced landscape gardens which were fashionable at the time were built, creating pockets of rocky areas across the vast swathes of fields.

Kensington Palace

Situated at the helm of Kensington Gardens, Kensington Palace is the official household of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Having been a royal home since the 17th century, the once dilapidated home is now a royal tourist attraction, having been reopened to the public in 2012 to mark the diamond jubilee.

Top tips for travel around Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a rather large area to navigate. It’ll be fine for some to walk but for the lesser abled or those with smaller children, it’s no mean feat. Luckily, the area is dotted with tube stations and bus stops. On the Piccadilly Line and dotted across the length of the parks edge, you will find Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge, alongside the Central Lines Queensway, Lancaster Gate and Marble Arch. Further more the nearby Bayswater and High Street Kensington tube stations are situated on the Circle and District Lines, and give you a quick walk to the park from the Paddington and Kensington areas.
