With so many different sites to see and activities to do, it’s no wonder that Bayswater – with its central location and excellent transport links – is such a popular location.

Here’s our list of the top 10 things you can do within 10 minutes of Bayswater and the Park Grand London Lancaster Gate hotel.

1. Bowling

Bowling is an excellent activity for keeping kids of all ages (and adults!) entertained.

It brings out a little healthy family competition and gives everyone a chance to let their hair down. Queens skate, dine and bowl is one of the best bowling alleys in London and is just a short ten-minute walk from the Park Grand Lancaster Gate hotel. It also has space for you to enjoy a tasty meal and a few drinks or even try your hand at ice skating. If you have your car with you, you could also try out All Star Lanes on Ariel Way which is just a ten-minute drive from the hotel. They also provide a great dining experience, with their bar and restaurant kitted out like an all-American diner.

2. Shopping

Bayswater is home to one of the oldest shopping centres in the country – Whiteleys.  Whiteleys offers all the shopping you could want under one roof; it also houses excellent restaurants and an eight-screen multiplex cinema for an all-round day out.  If you’re looking for a more high-street style shopping experience, there are plenty of individual and independent shops along the streets of Bayswater. Plus, Westfield is only a few tube stops away!

3. Tasty things to eat

Because Bayswater is such a multicultural area, there are loads of restaurants boasting exciting and unique cuisines for you to try. Some of the most popular places in the area offer Lebanese, Moroccan, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Malaysian and Persian inspired menus for you to explore and treat yourself with. It’s the perfect place to travel the world through food, without changing postcode!

4. Hyde Park

Hyde Park, the largest park in Central London, is right on the doorstep of Bayswater. You should be able to reach it in under a 5-minute walk, which is fantastic.  Hyde Park has everything you could want from a park; wide, smooth paths for running, walking and cycling; lakes to look out across; grassy areas to lounge and set up a picnic on; memorials and art installations. There’s something for everyone to enjoy on a trip to Hyde Park. The park also holds different events throughout the year, from open-air concerts to a winter wonderland at Christmas.

5. Antique hunting

If you’re the type of person who loves hunting for and discovering unique items in the world’s antique stores, then Bayswater is the place for you. The streets around the Park Grand London, Lancaster Gate hotel, have some fantastic antique shops for you to explore in search of your next big find.

8. Marble Arch

If you take the Central Line from Queensway station, you can be at Marble Arch in just 11 minutes. It’s just over our ten-minute boundary, but it’s worth the extra minute.

Initially, only members of the Royal Family and the King’s Troop were authorised to pass through, but today that’s only the case during ceremonial occasions. For visitors to London, it’s a famous landmark at the top of Oxford Street, and its enormous height makes it an excellent meeting point if needed.

9. Spas and Massages

While there are lots of things to see and do in and around Bayswater, sometimes you need to take a little time to unwind and relax.  Bayswater is home to a number of spas and massage parlours. Some are independent but many can be found inside some of the more luxurious hotels in the area. Make sure you ask what types of massage and treatments each spa offers before you book in so you can be sure you’re getting a treatment that’s going to work best for you.

10. St Sophia’s Cathedral

St Sophia’s Cathedral is one of the most impressive buildings in Bayswater.
