Benoit Viellefon & His Orchestra – Swing Valentine Special

(The Paris Grill, 37 Crutched Friars EC3N 2AE)

In recent years, the old-school swing-music maestros that are Benoit Viellefon & His Orchestra have become a firm favourite at the most elegant of venues around the UK. And that’s because the line-up and their orchestrations are inspired by the hot swinging music that emerged from both sides of the Atlantic in the 1920s 1930s and 1940s – and because these tunes truly do swing!

Now, as ‘Benoit Viellefon’s Hot Club’ sells out Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London’s Soho every two months and because that venue’s simply proved too small for such a band as The Orchestra, they’ve decided to up sticks to the Paris Grill; a newly refurbished chic Parisian restaurant with a Belle-époque feel and a 250 capacity with a wooden floor and a great atmosphere. So why not pop along with your special someone for Valentine’s evening and join the dancing audience, swing music lovers and connoisseurs of fine French cuisine (so no visiting a Paddington restaurant first!).

Silent Sounds boat party

(The Dutch Master, Tower Millennium Pier EC3N 4AB; from 16th February onwards)

‘Silent Sounds: On The Thames’ is waiting to take you on an unmissable trip and silent disco, all while showing you London’s most incredible sights along the Thames. Hop aboard The Dutch Master, a two-storey party boat, for a night of drinking and dancing with a difference as you float by iconic London landmarks while choosing the soundtrack to your night at a silent disco.

Party the night away with your loved one at the vessel’s silent disco, which will be whipping the crowd up with party anthems and dance floor killers. From disco classics to hardcore house, you can pick your channel on the headphones meaning the dance floor will see some serious action. The boat also has a bar on each deck; so, why not play pirate and guzzle rum or live the high life with a glass of crisp white?

The Murdér Express

(Arch 63 Pedley Street E1 5BW)

Step back to the early 20th century, when travelling by train for pleasure was still in its infancy.  This murder-mystery-game-style attraction first came to the Pedley Street Station venue in May 2018 and, so well received was it, it’s returned to more attendees to become its esteemed passengers and experience its luxury train, ‘The Murdér Express’, as it makes its historic journey. While you embark on your ‘expedition’, there will be opportunities to wet your whistle with drinks from the Seven Sins platform bar and, once on-board, your taste buds will be tantalised with a new four-course menu from MasterChef 2016 winner Jane Devonshire. So why not step on board for an epic voyage you’ll truly never forget.
